Africa and back - we made it...

Hi folks, I haven't posted hear in a while as my wife and I have been on safari in Africa...Botswana to be exact and then 2 days at Victoria Falls, but, then some of you already knew that...to say that this was an absolutely incredible experience - both from a holiday point of view and an educational point of view would be an understatement...I will never look at another PBS special on Africa in the same way again and I left a bit of my heart behind as well...if I was thirty years younger...who knows. It is a different world from where we live in North America, at least where I live...no planes, no highways except around the cities, no wires on poles to break up the horizon and blue skies that never stopped...

I took over 1600 images and it will obviously take me a while to process all of them...I will keyword them all, but I will only "develop" a select few for sharing and printing for framing. Below are two that I took the day after our arrival in Jo'burg and I thought I would share these to start with. Most of the others that I will post will probably be in the "wildlife" section, but here is a start...

1. Advertising on the side of building in downtown Johannesburg


2. Maple leaves on a sidewalk


The last one I found very interesting because, we had travelled half way around the world and found this symbol of our country, the maple leaf, growing in Jo'burg...

Stranger than fiction...lion pictures and other fauna have yet to come...still keywording the images, but I must confess, I have never seen a coke add on a 30 story building

Well OC, how about this one...this was early in the morning (thus the slight yellowish tinge to some things) and this guy had tried to push the tree over, to no avail, so he just reached up and starting ripping the branches off...

Well, this trip certainly left me wanting more. I definitely want to go back, but next time I will try for the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro areas.

Sounds like an awesome adventure. My son did an African vacation a few years ago and came back with some amazing stories and great wildlife images. I am looking forward to see more of your photo adventure.

Thanks OT, it was a great holiday, little tiring, but worth every sleepless minute. Posting will come in a few days as I finish some keywording and select a few of the better ones. I will most likely post them in the "Animals" forum.
