Is my passion for sailing clouding my judgement here?

Nice abstract, but seeing a bit more of the bow might help (although the Critique forum might have other opinions). Shooting the things that interest you will always lead to interesting shots.
Hmmm - now I need to figure out how to do that - I am balanced precariously on the bow and if I pull back more my feet will be in the picture.

Dodgy! Don't do it Roger, it's not worth it lol
Love the splashing water. Cool shot!
You don't know how close that first statement is to reality.
I was holding onto the headsail for dear life and taking photo's one handed.

Rig up the spinnaker pole, swing it towards the bow, and with the other hand take the picture. OK, maybe not! Probably the easiest option would be to crop the image later but visualize what you want in the shot while you're taking it rather than not thinking about it until later. Another option may be something like a Bogen/Manfrotto Magic Arm and a remote release but that would take a fair amount of rigging and would probably need to be taken down before tacking.
Eveything about this speaks adventure. Great composition I.M.H.O.
After reading this thread I was able to understand the mechanics of the shot. It's very nice. I like the hardware detail, wake reflection elements as well.
Nice work.
Thanks for the ideas about the spinnaker pole - now I wonder if Helen would have the insurance forms out while I dangled there:lol:
I was trying to get as far out as possible without loosing footing and hand hold while still composing through view finder. Now will the boss allow me to buy more tripods?
Rick - Thanks - I'm glad you like it. I have many shots of the boat which I never think would appeal to others. Perhaps I'll try some more out on the wider audience here to see if they appeal.
