What happens when you hit a Thousand? Should I watch for Balloons?

OH my god! Hopefully everyone survived though?? How did that pile-up happen to begin with? It seems like a lot of people were following a bit too close to one another.

Those Semi's always seem to have something to do with it. When I travel, I race past them holding my breath. Quick thinking to grab the shots, they may even be needed in some lawsuits. Pays to take your camera.

My MIL was involved in a terrible multiple-car accident two years ago in Wisconsin. A whole bunch of cars involved burst into a ball of flames, and she was close enough to feel the heat. Her leg was shattered and she had to be pulled out of her car by two "Good Samaritans", otherwise she'd have been killed.

The cause of the accident was fog.

Having driven 20-ton city buses for a few years during college, I can tell you that having to stop something of that weight when someone cuts you off is extremely difficult. The other thing is the lack of visibility along the side of the vehicle in wet weather, especially at dusk when some cars don't have their headlights on. Of course, there are truck drivers who inevitably drive too agressively for the size of their vehicle, and end up costing the states millions of $$ in accidents.

We had a similar situation last November up here in Boston. The roads froze solid during the morning commute, ending up in literally hundreds of accidents around the city. It took my father nearly 4 hours to get to work.... normally a 50 minute commute.

It was the worst wreck that I've ever seen ! But when I got home I looked it up on the internet and found out that No, there were no fatalities.

It was rainy and it started with one wreck at the bottom of the hill, then as people started coming over the hill (including the semi) they did not have enough time to stop, and the vehicles just kept adding to the pile up... there were more vehicles involved than what you see here ! I counted almost 11, can you believe it?

    lol

I can see you doing that. Alot of people there were angry with the semi, and I overheard them saying how fast he was going and blah blah blah.. But the wreck was already at the bottom of the hill. He had 3 cars on his hood. While i thought it was a possibility that it was his fault too, It never came out that it was that drivers fault. I know it is hard to stop a semi. If it had been me in his place, I probably wouldn't of been able to stop either... Even the smaller vehicles had trouble. I'm just glad I exited a few miles back to take some photos of a mean guys shop ( got cussed off the property though, just for going in to ask for permission!)

Kelly, thats Terrible! Thank God for those Good Samaritans! they may not stop when you are broken down on the side of the road, but I'd much rather have them making a difference in wrecks like you mentioned above. wow!
