    A-10 & Lensbaby

Under carriage of an A-10, specifically the magazine of LIVE 30mm dummy shells the plane was packing while at our local airshow. It was amusing to hear the crew member comment on the lens while I was taking this.

Cool Shot!!! Those 30mm shells are hugh. I have one of the dummy rounds. :-)

That's an interesting photo, although I'm not sure the Lensbaby really adds anything to the content. By the way, isn't "live dummy" an oxymoron?

I needed it for the extra light, and was just trying to find some ways to use it in that context. They're "live dummies" because they can and will actually be shot, but they're not the armor melting tank killer rounds that they pack for combat.

I understand that. I periodically experiment with the Lensbaby. It doesn't always turn out to be a good idea. But sometimes there's only one way to find out. Most of the time, for me, I discover it wasn't a good idea. But I'm not one of those people that's a natural with the Lensbaby.

Great shot in a lot of ways. I'd hate to be hit by one of these things. The A10 keeps going and going ...

I like this close up detail shot because it sheds light on some of the inner workings of the plane which are often overlooked. I've heard that if these were not dummies, they would be filled with depleted uranium.
