What I do is drape the fabric over the crossbar, and use the clamps as you would clothes pins on a laundry line.

Hah! Didn't even think of that, but that's got to be the way! Thank you.

BTW, two is probably not going to be enough, which is why I use super cheap metal clamps (with plastic tips) from Lowes or Home Depot...
