Help Constructing a Product Photo Booth

Is there a product photographer out there that can instruct me how to construct a photo booth for digital photography? I am not a photographer at all. I am a graphics artist that is trying to place product photos in a portfolio. I would like to be able to cut away the background and just be left with the product, therefore I am looking for a solution that would leave the least amount of surrounding shadows.

The products are relatively small (anywhere from a small sized screw to a 7" x 7" widgit); 99% are made of some kind of silver metal (some matte finish, some shiney).

I am thinking about shooting them in B&W, but I need an idea as to how to make the box/booth. Not being a photographer, I don't know how to quickly achieve the best results (ie: black or white background; 5 sided box or maybe less; lighting; etc??)

If you're wanting to construct the actual booth I'd suggest PVC tubing and PVC elbow connectors. You could glue them with plumbers "solder", actually special glue or I suppose you could leave them loose so you could disassemble it. Maybe just duct tape the corner pieces so you can take it apart if need be.
For the background, either a solid white so it is easily selectable in PS for removal/replacement.
They actuall;y sell green chromakey backdrops now specifically designed for dropping in alternate BG's later in PS. The same thing as a blue screen or green screen in the movie biz.
Try aurabackdrops. They sell a lot on ebay.

Another suggestion, maybe better. Find a gauzy, softbox-type material to cover the box so you can light from outside. Very even. Make sure you cover all 5 sides and just have a cutout for your lens to minimise reflection.
