    Youth Soccer

I was asked to shoot a youth soccer league and did four of their games this last Saturday and I've just finished going through the shots. Here are some to share.

edit: After posting and seeing them here they appear real dark, I promise they looked fine on my laptop. I did a slight curves adjustment to brighten them, but I guess just not enough.

They do look a tad dark, but they still look good on my monitor.

Looks like you had a pretty successful day out there shooting

They look a little dark on my work monitor, but it may be because my monitor at work is from 1922 I think :mad2: . I like the action though. I like the kids sports as you get some GREAT expressions.

Nice job... I will have to look when I get home at my monitor from 1975 .

Hi - I'm new here. Great shots. What equipment do you use and how do you set your camera? Do you use AF? I take pics of my kids games but would like to get better at it.

    Thanks - Steve

Thanks everyone, I think I just didn't brighten them up enough when I processed them. If I have the screen on my laptop tilted to much forward or back then they can appear brighter or darker.

    Thanks Steve,

For these shots I used my MK IIn with the 300 f/2.8L IS lens. I set my camera to AV (aperture priority) at f/2.8 and had the ISO between 100-400, depending on the cloud cover or lack of. I do use AF as the action is moving so fast and I use such a shallow DOF.

Thanks for the info. I currently have an Olympus e500 w/ 50-200mm 2.8. I have tried the sports modes and this weekend tried shutter priority with continuous focus. Still a little off focus...can't be the shooter right?!!:

    Re: Youth Soccer

It may just be your camera's AF can't keep up with the players. I had a Nikon D70, and I was getting waaay less keepers than I do with my D2h.

If you'd like, start another thread and post a few examples and we can help you nail the problem down.
