Yes, another MTB thread from me :)

Its nice not having to work weekends as much, it gives me a chance to get some cycling photography in. There should be another thread or two next week since I'm shooting a cycling race again on sunday, and a wedding that next friday

#1 The lone racer in the Jr Mens 13 & Under category navigates a turn at the start of the race

#2 Billy Hall (#140) leads Timothy Locke (#131) at the start of the Mens Expert class race. Billy will end up taking 2nd, while Timothy will get a DNF.

#3 A racer take cuts the corner a little close on his second lap out of three. He will finish the race in 3rd place in the beginner category.

#4 Men's sport class racers fight it out on the first big climb after the finish line at the start of their first lap.

#5 Closeup of the a Trek Racing Team member

#6 A rider stops his clock in the Pro/Semi-pro class while coming in at 7th place.

Nice job, I really like to see biking pictures since there really isn't a lot of that action up in my parts. Great composition, and expression of the subjects you shot.

There does look like there is a bit of noise in them, but that doesn't detract from the pictures.

Really nice work. Outdoor shots in sunlight can be a challenge, especially when the sun is behind the subject. I see you avoided shooting in that position on these.

Yea, that noise is from the site. When they were uploaded i forgot to change a setting that tells the host to not sharpen them. When i get home from work today I'll be re-uploading them.

#2 was actually taken while looking towards the sun. It was a nice backlit situation. One of the tough things about the course is most of the places the racers were going parallel to the sun. I had a tough time finding places where the sun was directly behind me with the racers coming at me. This weekend though they are running the course backwards, and the race organizer said he did some reroutes which should get me some nice photos.

Since I got my 2nd body back from nikon, I'll be better able to get my remote flashes setup

Nice photos, Scott. Was that one of the Fort Ord races? I noticed on Mtbr and my MySpace friends that there was just a Fontucky DH race, too. It seems funny to me that mtb season is starting to warm up in California, while I'm still all about the snow

Its at the old Fort Ord military base right next to the ocean. The only rocks I could find were about the size of a basketball. The base though, has plenty of sand to ride in.

When I get out there this sunday I plan on getting some photos of the riders going past the Gorge of Death. To find out what that means, you'll just have to check out next week's photos

If I remember correctly, isn't Fort Ord in Monterrey? I flew out to there in '05 for the MotoGP race at Laguna Seca - flew in to San Jose, actually - and I think I remember driving by there. It's a beautiful area; quite a bit different from what we have here in AL.

Yeap. All the old buildings you passed on hwy 1 down the coast before the exit to Laguna Seca is the old base. The same scenery you saw at LS is the same at the race location.
