The Worst HS FB Lighting Yet!

I shot a game tonight in the worst HS stadium lighting I have ever come across. At the 50 yard line at center field, the light was f2.8, ISO 1600, 1/30!! I have to admit it was a challenge to come away with anything useful at all. But here's a couple that I did manage to get in spite of the lack of illumination.

Welcome to Kentucky High School football!! Unfortunately there are far far too many fields with this kind of sub par lighting in the state. I am forced to shot at one nearly every week. You managed to make a silk purse out of a sows ear on the ones you posted.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

    Thenks OT!
This type of situation forces you to pull out every trick in the bag. I even found the few spots on the field that were slightly above black and tried to time shots in those places. There was one lady on the opposite sideline with what appeared to be a Sigma 70-300 4.5-5.6 and a pop up flash trying to get some shots. All I can say is Bless Her Heart! It was so dark that the players were having a hard time on the field. Definitely time for a lighting upgrade at that school!!

Apparently the state athletic association doesn't have light requirements..... maybe they should look into it and maybe some complaints to to the schoolboard will make some changes. Of course bad photos in the paper might help too.
