Women's volleyball: Chico State avenges earlier season sweep

It was off to Chico State again on a recent night to catch the visiting Warriors from Cal State Stanislaus play the Wildcats. The Warriors did not have an impressive season record coming into this match, but they had swept the Wildcats in their first meeting in early October. This time the Wildcats same out on top with a four-set 25-23, 25-23, 21-25, 25-20 victory.

All photos were taken with D700 + 80-200 f/2.8 zoom. Exposure was manually set at 1/500, f/4, and ISO 10,000.

Super action as usual Bob! I like the first two with the higher angle, it helps to isolate the hitter and get good facial reactions. The look on 14's face in the third image is priceless.

Thanks much, Larry. Hitter #14 is the star of the show for the Wildcats. She's also the one blasting the ball in photos #1 and #6. She recently passed 1,000 kills for her volleyball career at Chico State. I don't envy the players on the receiving end of her spikes!

For those first two shots I was located high in the spectator stands and was zoomed out to 185 mm. on the 80-200.

That red curtain does a good job of adding color to the images. However, I wish that it extended high enough to cover up the busy backgrounds that are visible in photos #5 and #7.
