    What am I doing wrong...

Canon Xti, Canon EF 55-200 4.5-5.6 lens USM (But I get this a lot with my other kits lens)
    ISO 200, 5.6, 1/320th
I shoot in Manual, with my focus point set to Manual Focus Point Center.

Here is what I do a lot, my target was Levi L. (closest rider, black jacket)

I seem to blow the the focus on my target.. It happens a lot.

    Here is the example

You mean you manually focused for this shot? Why? And were you able to manually focus fast enough to keep the focus on the target all the time? Have you tried the AF and what results you got?

No, not manual focused. I set the AF to center.

Your focus locked on the second rider behind him from the camera. This happens a lot when there are a lot of subjects closely grouped like this. This is a situation where you might be better off using manual focus. It can be done with AF but you have to be aware when the focus locks on the desired subject and take the shot.

You used center focus and Leipheimer isn't in the center. – TF

Even though the subject is out of focus, the colors are brilliant.
