    Watkins Glen Indy Racing 9/25/2005

I got lucky getting a hold of some credentials for the Inaugural Watkins Glen Indy Grand Prix last month. Below are some of my best shots from the weekend. Believe me I have plenty more shots as this was a once in a lifetime event for me. Hopefully next year I'll get to go to a few more races. Enjoy. All shots were taken with a Canon 20D 70-200mm f2.8 IS L lens with 1.4x converter

they look pretty good. Have you tried panning using a slower shutter? I find those are my favorite race shots.

Nice, but as Livin4lax stated it would be good to get more of a speed effect. When shooting daytime motor sports I normally start with ISO at 800, around f11 to f16 depending on sun and then set shutter so I am 1 mark over the mid point on metering. I shoot in manual mode and change the f stop as the sun changes. Doing this gives the tire blur and background blur as you pan and gives more of a speed feeling.
