Here's go around number two. I was shooting in AV mode and at ISO 200 for the most part, probably should have went a little higher as the sun kept ducking away on me. Still not great, but somewhat improved I think.

Overall nice work. Some good action and for the most part the colors held up even though you were working under varying light conditions. A few comments on improvement (IMHO) a few of the shots could be tightened up. If you can't shot tighter don't be afraid to crop the image in post processing. Get rid of things like water container on benches in the background and players how aren't a part of the action trailing the play. Not sure what lenses you have and what their apertures are but try shooting at the larger aperture settings to blur backgrounds more and minimize distractions (cars, fences and houses). And lastly watch your horizons try to keep them as horizontal as possible (if need be you can adjust them in post process). Hope that these observations help some. Keep shooting and posting. You have a wonderful opportunity while at college to shoot lots of sports and improve your skills. Thirty-five plus years ago I had that same opportunity and it was the most exciting time of my photo life and the one where my learning curve took the sharpest rise. Have fun and enjoy your college experience and use the time to become a better photographer.

Nice pictures though I think ISO 400 would've been a bit better for some of the shots. Caught the action and got their faces in it. :thumbsup:

I thought the same thing. I'm really trying to figure out the focal limits of my camera. I had several other good shots that were a bit away that blurred because the focus hit something else. I've heard something about a setting that will only allow the camera to focus on the center, but I don't know how to do that. I want to say it involved a firmware hack, but I'm not sure. Anybody have any insight?

the very first thing that I see is your crooked horizons. If evaluating a photo and an editor sees a crooked horizon, it's basically done before it's even been looked at. It's a very simple thing to do in photoshop, so if you can't focus on in intently during the game, try to correct it afterwards. it's one simple step that allows your photo to get that much farther in the critique process.
