    V8 Supercars - Clipsal 500 '08

    Hi,

Haven't been around here for a very long time. Thought I'd pop in & post some of my latest (well, nearly a month ago now!) from this years Clipsal 500 V8 supercar race:

    From the V8 Supercars:

From the support categories (much easier to take photos...less people around!)

    Cheers & thanks for looking!

Excellent shots as usual, from the stands ?
You know I'm going to like #2 for the flames...
I like #4 for the framing, very nicely done - full frame or cropped?
Your panning at 1/80 is great, I usually go with 1/125.

Is that Bart Mawer in the Porsche?
I met him at Mark Webber's fan club kart challenge.
Of course Mark, Bart, and Will Power creamed the lot of us

Number 4 is a pretty heavy crop. I cut the top of the car off when I shot it & it was going in the bin. Just before hitting delete & gave it a heavy crop in PS & liked the results (I always try & retain a 6x4 image ration...makes it easier when printing!). Glad I kept it, because it gets the most remarks from non photographers! The only thing that I am really disappointed with is the bad CA on the wheels...Hopefully I am going to upgrade some of my ancient glass this year & that will become a fact of the past.

Thanks for the comments on the panning. Its something that I really worked on during 2007 & now its starting to show. (but you didn't pick up that the Carrati Porsche was done at 1/40th ;) ....sorry, I was really chuffed when I nailed it!) & yes, that is Bart Mawer

& just to cap it off, another "out there" one that I was playing with this morning:

    Cheers & thanks for looking!

I spotted the 1/40th but it doesn't look so sharp at this resolution.
I think it's the angle of the body changing blurring the front and rear of the car slightly.

I like the "out there" shot because you got the KUMHO on the rear tyre.
How many did you shoot to get that?
Do you have one that has it at the bottom of both wheels?

Oh and the CA, that might come out with Lightroom's CA correction. Or you hide it by selectively desaturating the purple
