    Triathlon

My cousin ran a half triathlon this past sunday and I had time to go and shoot it for him. Also gave me an opportunity to test out my new Nikon 70-200 2.8 VR

Here he is on the long walk to the start of his 1.2 mile swim in Lake Michigan and right before the start of the race

Couple shots on his 56 mile bike ride.

On his 13.1 mile run, they went out 3+ miles then came back almost to the finish line to turn back and do the loop again. As he was coming in for his loop, the winner passed him and my cousin came down the stretch like he was in 2nd place - until he had to go back for his 2nd loop.

    my cousin on his run

here is what they see when they make the loop back out for another 6+ mile run

after the race and getting ready for some refueling - he finished the race in 4 hours and 31 minutes (shaved 20 minutes off his time from last year)

Nice shots... my favorites are the biking shots. Very sharp and great colors.

Nice job there, definately not the norm here, although it combines several things seen here. I think he should be pretty happy with the results. I'd lighten up his face in the one shot, otherwise great job!

Thanks for the reply - The swimming shots were rough - on the water and shooting into the sun. The bike shots we drove out into the course and were able to see him pass the same point 2x. I was really happy with the bike shots too. The running shots were the same issue, clear day on the beach with the reflections from the water.

Thanks JS appreciate the comments. I haven't gotten enough editing practice to get the brightening up certain areas yet ...

I had these and many more printed out for him and he was very happy with them ...

They had a outfit called "brightroom" there and they photographed the event also then put the shots up on their site for sale. He told me that they had nothing on my shots and that most of my shots were much better than theirs. The only thing they had was position on the course. Especially at the finish line.

    Re: Triathlon

You can use Shadows and Highlights to help fux that pretty quick. As you make adjustments it will give you a preview.

    Re: Triathlon

Thanks JS - I just recently found this option and have been tinkering with it as of late. Really helps tone down the shadows and some of the highlights if needed.

sooner or later I will learn to use curves .....
