Track meet: 110 meter hurdlers at Chico State

Earlier this month I attended the annual Chico Multi-classic track meet held at Chico State University. This is a 2-day event, and this year I attended only the second day which featured decathlon and heptathlon events for men and women.

I usually post multiple photos, but in this case I am posting only a single photo taken during one heat of the men's 110 meter hurdles event. This image is so much better than anything else I produced that day that I don't want it to be diluted by any of my lesser efforts!

    Camera: D700 + 70-300 VR at 70 mm. zoom setting. Exposure: Aperture-preferred at 1/1000, f/16, and ISO 2200.

    Comments are welcome.

Nice catch! That small aperture worked for this image, don't think I have ever shot an action photo at f16. Rarely venture of f 2.8 to f 5.6.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

Thanks, Larry. The great majority of my sports photos are also shot in the range of f/2.8-f/5.6. The reason I shot at f/16 was so that I would have all of the hurdlers in sharp focus. Otherwise I seldom shoot at f/16. Normally f/11 is as far as I go in closing down the lens diaphragm to increase the depth of field.
