Hey everyone,

I thought I'd let you know I may not be around for a while as today is the day I have my shouder surgery. I can't type left handed so I will probably just pop in for a look occasionally. It could be a couple days or 6 weeks, I won't know till after the operation.
If you need help I am sure SmartWombat will be around.
Take care everyone! I will miss posting here, even if it's only a couple days!

We'll all be thinking of you today. I hope the recovery and rehab go smoothly. You may just find out that typing left handed isn't so bad after all. Might be better than not getting to voice an opinion after you read a post. Take care and good luck.

All my friends who've had shoulder surgery come back stronger than ever. So I'm sure it will be great. All the same, I know the recovery is uncomfortable. So I wish you a complete and speedy recovery. Check in and let us know how you're doing. It's ok if the typing is crappy ;)

Surgery went OK...but typing left handed sucks! I can"t use the right hand at all as it is literally glued to my side. It hurts a lot. Anyway I won't be typing much for a while and any posts will be very short!

Just great to know things went well and you are back home. I'm betting you get pretty good with that left hand in no time. Welcome back.

I hope surgery went well, with no complications.
Recorvery sounds like it'll be frustrating.
I guess they immobilised you for your own good, so you can't do any damege while recovering.
Hope things improve soon.

Well folks, you won't beleive this one......I sure do not!

Yesterday I had a visit to the doc who did my surgery on my shoulder and he had some shocking news. Although the rotator cuff had 3 tears, not two as the MRI showed, he didn't have to do any cutting or anything other than stitching the tears, basically he was able to do it arthroscopic which means less tissue damage. The bad news was he had to trim the clavical and another bone, which is what hurts so dang much....but he said I could possibly return to shooting as soon as NEXT FRIDAY!
Guess what, I am typing this with my right hand!
They did give me some really cool photos of the damage in my shoulder - in color no less. The photo technology is so neat now (see I even got photography into an operation... )

Sound like you came out of this ordeal smelling like a rose. Really great news. Just don't push it and cause the recovery to last longer than it should.

yeah, there goes my first vacation in 5 years in some ways I was hoping for at least 4 weeks off, on the other hand I am going nuts sitting around doing nothing.
I actually picked up the camera today and tried to see how I am coming along. I can't get my hand up to the shutter button yet.... , but what did I expect... a miracle

Well I am back to work on Saturday! I have two jobs that day too, both at the same school 7 hours apart. I have swimming and basketball and then next week I have (I think) state swimming finals....back just in time .
I picked up the camera today for the first since surgery and can barely get my right hand up to the shutter , but according to the therapist he and the doc are amazed at how well I have done considering the damage in my shoulder. A pretty big mess I guess.
I'm glad to get back out and do something...I am bored!

Yup, definately, the right hand/arm can't take that kind of weight yet heck, it can't lift the 300D with a 50mm on it yet lol.
