    Syracuse Lacrosse

Went to the game a couple of weekends ago. Website said no telephoto lenses but I brought it anyway. Got lucky and they didn't say anything so I was able to use it.

These are nice captures, though soft and missing focus a bit, except #4. The color looks a bit off too.

But hey, you said you were sneaking in and probably a bit nervous of getting told to can it.

Dunno if you are interest, but my partner/mentor shoots for inside lacrosse magazine and you can see the NY-Area college games that he covers. SCroll down, it seems like he has done a few HS games recently.

you must be looking at different images than I am, these are sharp sharp sharp... especially considering the conditions. shooting in the dome isn't the greatest. But I actually really like the color cast that it puts on images, the lighting is quite soft. It's a good thing they don't play outside, those bright white jerseys wouldnt stay that way very long....

I agree with Brent, these look great. Nice job, on a fast paced sport.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

Take a look at the college lax photos at www.njsi.net. Maybe "sharp" is not the word I am looking for.

I wasn't offended by any comments Vinny. I checked out your links and the lacrosse shots are great.

I welcome and appreciate all of the comments and criticism from everyone. I have learned quite a bit.

first off, don't think i was insulted by anything you said

secondly, it's just a different compression/sharpening algorithm. You had stated the images were out of focus, and for the most part they were not. They have a bit of motion blur, yes, because Syracuse plays in the dome which is artificial lighting. The image you posted was shot outside, so it's going to have a bit of a different look...also looks like it was shot with a long telephoto, in which case the super-blurred background has the capability to make the point of focus look even sharper.
