    Sports Photography Magazines...

Maybe I am missed one when I went searching, but why aren't there any magazines dedicated to sports photography? It seems like there are a million photography magazines out there and there are many dedicated to individual disciplines, especially nature and outdoors. There is even one for taking underwater photos.

It seems like sports photography is the red-headed step child of the photography world. There is only one book that I have found on the subject and one dedicated website (that requires membership), not including a few internet forums. Considering how popular sports our in our culture, you would think that there would be more emphasis on the subject. I'm not trying to disparage any other fields of photography, but I would just like to see more.

    Re: Sports Photography Magazines...

You said it masdog, sports photography is the unwanted stepchild. Part of it is due to perceptions about sports photography... one being we are all lucky stiffs who make lots of money standing on sidelines. Another being that Sports Illustrated is the "bible" of sports photography... yeah, sure, whatever.

I would love to start up a sports only photography magazine and association
In fact, Indy would be a perfect base for such an operation, what with the NCAA and High school sports rules organizations both headquartered here, the worlds center of speed, and pro and amature sports it would be a natural fit. Not too mention I happen to have some contacts in the print world as well, and contacts in other places as well.

Go Colts!!! (although they are sputtering at the moment)
