    Some Practice Gymnastics

Here is one from the gym a few weeks ago. I am still learning the post processing thing, but with some new books and some reading and of course what you all have to offer, I hope to have this down soon. The season starts next week. This is of a level 9 boy (15 - 17 y/olds). I like how high he gets.

    Any comments are appreciated....

One more of the High Bar. This is during his dismount set up. He was taking a giant swing and then dismounting. I got lucky to get his right at the top. He is one of our top gymnasts. I think he took honors at states and qualified through to nationals.

You have a good start, but I'd try the following:
    1: Get closer
2: get a bit more headon with your subject
    3: crop the excess

Since this is practice you should be able to get tighter on the subject. That may not be during competition though so longer glass may the answer then.

    JS,
I shot these from the viewing stands before the coach told me I could shoot from anywhere I wanted to. The stands are almost at the opposite wall of the gym. But the coach now gave me permission to shoot from anywhere I want to get the kids at the best angles.

I will be trying to move about the gym this week.

Thanks... I am also picking up a help manual for Elements 5.0 (Photoshop Elements 5.0 The Missing Manual). I know I need help post processing pics.

    Thanks..Phil

Isn't the manual also on the CD? It is on mine. I got both the manual and the manual on the program disk, which helps when I'n not around home.
Its good the coach gave you permission to shoot from the floor, that will help you alot. We don't get good access at the meets, but I have always found ways to get around it.

    JS....
I just picked up the book Photoshop Elements 5, The Missing Manual by Barbara Brundage. It does not have a CD with it. None of the books I saw did. I looked at Photoshop Elements 5 for Digital Photographers by Scott Kelly and Adobe Photoshop Elements 5.0 Maximum Performance: Unleash the Hidden Performance of Elements
by Mark Galer. None of the books had a CD.

I hope I picked up a good help manual....

I will be trying to get my photoshop better and I will post some of the meet we have on Fri and some of the clinic we are hosting with Mile Avery (Ohio State's Mens coach). It should be great.

If you have any suggestions about books for me, let'r rip..Thanks..Phil

    Re: Some Practice Gymnastics

Sorry, I was meaning the Photoshop Elements CD it'self. Mine has a copy of the maual on it, but then I just heard that some don't have it and some of those do not come with a hardcopy manual either!
Software developers are leaning to paper free manuals on the CD's for their software so always check your CD's for copies of the manuals. Some are doing both, in case you lose the hardcopy, or, as in my case the DOG eats it....along with a friends daughters homework......no joke, it really happened. The poor girl took her chewed up homework and the book to school to prove it and the teacher called me to ask if it was what really happened. She forgot her homework here, and it was on the book when the mutt chewed it all up.
She recently has gotten a facination with chewing CD's now though......

Oh.. I downloaded the trial version from the web. I will be buying it though. I like elements 5.0.. I got the manual I mentioned. It is a VERY good book for reference.

    Thanks..Phil
