    Some mtn biking shots

This is a follow up to the thread I posted a couple weeks ago about carrying a full sized camera on the trail. I ended up not taking as many shots as I'd like, or taking as good of shots as I liked. The pace of the ride was pretty fast and I'd get dropped like a mile ever time I had to pull out the camera. For taking action shots, we will have to plan a day where that's the priority, take a shorter loop and run the same section a trail a few times if needed to get the right shot, studio style...

As far as carrying the camera, I used a backpack which was slow and cumbersome. But I was watching TV a couple night later and there's was a bit on bike messengers. I saw one of them spin his pack around to the front, fip up the flap, and take out a box, and instantly a lightbulb went off in my head. One could make a compartment for a camera out of foam and glue, and easily be able to draw the camera w/o havign to get off the bike, take off the backpack, unzip, shoot, and all that backwards again to put it away. Now I just need a messenger bag....

    Here're the photos:

I have a camera bag that loops like the mesengers do. I believe its made by Tamrac. I have the largest one they make and can keep my Minolta 7D with battery grip and 70-200 f2.8 lens along with another camera body and my 100-400 zoom. You can wear it on your back and swing it around to the front and just unfasten the cover.
