Some Boys BB from a week ago

I was out of town for work all week this week and didn't get to shoot any local ball. But, here's a couple from the previous week. The North HS boys have 7 seniors this year and it should be a great season. For that matter, they've never had a losing season in the school's history. The usual setup:

2 Sunpak 383s at 1/2 power mounted ten rows up in the stands and clamped to the handrails. Aimed to cross at the top of the key about ten feet above the floor. Fired with Elinchrom Skyports.

Camera: ISO 640, f2.8 either 18-50mm or 80-200mm, Single Spot AF, Centerweighted Metering, Custom WB.

I like the colors and the whites. I think they are crisp. The 1st one has some shadows, but I know to get that good of a picture, you will have to have some. The gym looks dark.

I like the second one as the action is good and the defenders face tell the story.

    Nice Job.

Are you aiming your lights directly at the top of the key or bouncing off of of the ceiling?

They're aimed to cross about 10' above the free throw line in the center of the circle. The ceilings in both HS here (they are identical buildings) are too high for a good bounce with the big strobes and I don't like to fool with them anyway. I can have the small ones set up in under 5 minutes and tear down in under 2. They also fit in the bag with everything else and don't require external power.
