Saturday I spend the day photographing U5, U6, and U10 AYSO soccer, so when I found out my bro in law (U17) had a game sunday I jumped on the chance to shoot some good fast action soccer.
Problem was I got to the field, pulled out my 70-200, and noticed there was a bulge in the rubber where the manual focus overide ring is. And I realize that the ring won't turn because something broke in there. Luckily it still autofocused, so I was able to still use it. Its off to Sigma now so I'll have to wait to see how much it will cost. That has been a workhorse for me though. It's been through about 2 1/2 years of (ab)use and up until now has kept ticking.
1. My Bro in Law (Green penny) during a warmup scrimmage fights for the ball against Manny
2. Manny fights for control of the ball early in the first half
3. Hunter clears the ball up field
4. Both players going up for a header off a goalie's punt late in the first half
5. Hunter fighting for control of the ball in the beginning of the second half. The player in blue actually plays for the red team during tournaments. This is also what happens when you're at the wide part of your zoom
6. Derrick fights for control of a loose ball
7. First goal of the game comes late in the second half by a penalty kick.
The red team should (I believe) have lost the game. They won 2-1, but the other team only had 10 players the entire game, and dominated a fair amount.
