    Soccer Crunch

Here's one taken at the US Club Soccer Regional tournament in southern New Jersey. This was from the U16 girls championship game.

Nice shot Rob, nice and sharp, although it does appear a bit warm on my screen. I like the expressions on the girls. did the girl in front take one to the head? She looks like she holding her head in pain.

I just wish the girl in front wasn't there... but we can't plan this stuff or it wouldn't be any fun...nice catch though

    Hey RobMac-
I had a similar capture last week. Mine was way soft on the focus, though. I think your shot is terrific. I know from my end I will have to concentrate on DOF issues when three players are going for the header. Nice picture!

Nice picture. Excellent clarity for this type of action shot.

Thank you all for the kind comments!!! Jim, I do agree that this is a bit warm. This game was played on a day that was hovering around 100 degrees and was brutally humid. I'm sure that my memory of those conditions influenced the color corrections towards the yellows and reds. Something I have to be careful of and I'm glad you pointed that out (I've already gone back and corrected my copy).

    Thanks again - Rob

    Re: Soccer Crunch

Nice shot, Rob. My daughter just quit playing club soccer in NJ... I'm wondering where this tournament was? Fort Dix? Her last tournament was there and it was HOT, I took a few pictures but they are no where near that good. I'm still working on getting the settings right in FULL sun.

Here's a couple I got this weekend of my son's team. Its hard work, lol, trying to get good shots when you also want to watch the game. (Never mind couldn't get them to upload for some reason)...

I wimped out on most of my shots and did them in AP mode instead of manual.

    Re: Soccer Crunch

    Moviemakermom,

This tournament was in Pittsgrove NJ which is somewhere between Rt 95 and Atlantic City, way down at the southern end of NJ. We actually stayed in Wilmington DE. Last year, this same tournament was held at Ft Dix.

It was very hot and at the time this picture was taken, it was hovering around 100! I agree about taking pictures of your kids teams. My natural tendency is to lower the camera and watch when my daughter gets involved in the play and as a result, I have fewer photos of my daughter than the rest of the team.
