    Small Guy Round Ball

This was the first basketball game of the season that I have attended. It was my nephews 7th grade game.

The shots are great OT, especially #4, but most of them are motion-soft. I think you'll need more than 1/200 to stop most of the movement. Obviously that will yield more noise, but I'd prefer noise to blur. Also, most of these look a little warm, but you may prefer that.

Thanks for taking a look at these and your observations Brad. I just don't like the noise at a higher ISO. And while I have some motion I tried to time them to minimize the movement as much as possible and still get some action. Hope to help the noise problem in the next week or so when the D700 arrives.

I think a saying comes to mind about bringing a bigger hammer... lol, I think that should just about do it! Congrats on the new camera! I didn't mean to suggest the ones above were bad, but the D700 should certainly raise the keeper ratio and allow you to shoot all sorts of moments. I'll definitely look forward to seeing some of your shots from it!

I have been accused of that before Brad and must admit that as old age creeps in I seem to use that technique more and more. A couple of years ago I got tired of saying someday and started saying today. It has certainly improved the quality of my photos from a tech stand point but it doesn't do much for my (or anyone elses) expertise as a photographer.

Nice action and facial expressions. I shot basketball ONCE, and totally failed.

OT, you say a new camera? I'd love to hear more!
    It's not blurry. It's bokeh.

1 & 4 are my favorites, but you did capture great actions and emotions in all of them. Thank you for sharing.

    Re: Small Guy Round Ball

Thanks Lori, Julie and LAV. I took these from a spectators view point at the top of the bleachers. Don't usually shot from there but was a little lazy and was also looking for something with a little different perspective. I did like the fact that on layup I wasn't just getting legs and under the chin shots. Also defensive player wer not always blocking my view of the ball. D200 with the 80-200 f2.8.
