Just happened to be in the right place (Portreath beach) at the right time.
No idea the championship races were on !
So an opportunity to test out the Bigma ...

This requires more explanation. What does SLSC stand for? And are you talking about the Sigma 50-500mm? On the OM-D?

    Re: SLSC racing

Yes, I picked up a second hand Sigma 50-500 4/3 mount.
Mated it to the Panasonic 4/3 to micro 4/3 adapter and went off with the OM-D on a monopod.
Well really with the lens on a monopod and the camera attached.
It really doesn't want to autofocus, picking random points to stop - so after discovering it only hits about 1 in 10 images I've gone over to manual focus.

SLSC is a Surf Life Saving Club (familiar to Aussies) they used to manage beach safety (and of course life saving) before the RNLI got involved.

Sorry for another acronym John, the Royal National Lifeboat Institute are a charity - not a publicly funded organisation,

I'm not sure of the relationship between the RNLI and SLSGB, the surf life saving clubs were manning the beaches years before the RNLI organised their lifeguards.
