    Skateboarding Pics

These are some skateboarding shots I took with my casio ex-z600 point and shoot digital camera. I was just wondering what you guys thought and if you had any pointers. I just started taking photos so i'm pretty new at this kind of thing.

    Re: Skateboarding Pics

wow thoase are nice results for sport shots from a P&S camera. My P&S would never get images like that, which is why I got my DSLR, due to the lag in the shutter fro mteh time you depressed the trigger.

Nice shots. #2 you have the light in the right place, behind you, but the shadow really killed the shot. I think #'s 3 and 4 are your best overall. Trying to get the faces on the skaters and their expressions really brings the viewer into the shot. I learned that form the guys here. Now I just have to wait for the snow to melt so I can go back to the skate parks.

    I guess there's always snowboarding though =)

    Re: Skateboarding Pics

Aswell I was thinking about getting a digital slr camera and I was wondering what you guys would recomend. I love taking action shot and automotive pictures. I parents have a bunch of canon lens already so I am being pushed a little towards the canon. I just want to know if the Rebel is good for action shot and if its not what is a good choice.

    Thanks

    Re: Skateboarding Pics

Personally I have no experience with the Rebel yet but from what I have seen, if it had been out when I was shopping, it would have been my choice over the Olympus that I have now. Most of the features and things are the same but you get a few more MP with the Rebel (10 vs 8.1 on my Oly) and you have a TON of lenses to choose from with Canon whereas Olympus Digital cameras are just now getting lenses released by other manufatcurers for the 4/3 mount. Plus Cannons CCD's are among the best out there IMO producing a much more dynamic color range over all.

Nikon however is doing a great job of catching up to Canon and keeping the pricing affordable. Shop around and take your time, find what feels good in your hands before you buy.. and compare prices from your local shops and compare them to the cost of shopping online + exchange + shipping. I found that Shopping online, even with exchange, duty and shipping, has saved me hundreds of dollars over all. (example Henrys.ca had a lens on for $1500 before tax and shipping ... B&H camera's had the same lens for $999 USD + shipping and taxes and exchange I ended up with the lens for $1382 CDN .....so I saved $118 before taxes... and $343 after Tax)

    Re: Skateboarding Pics

Ya on #1 I used photoshop to enhance the colour and sharpness. Nice eye though I must say, if it wasn't me who had done it i don't think i would have noticed.
