    Second try....still not right....

Okay shot the JV baseball game yesterday, and I still don't have it set fast enough...ugh
You can see by the first one that the ball is a blur by the boys right leg....

But I will keep working on it....hopefully I will get it soon.....
Part of my problem is one side of the field I have the sun going down by the trees in front of me...but I am in the shade.....the other side is really, really bright.....I am not used to making so many adjustments....hopefully it will come in time, and practice.....

    I won't give up....:mad2:

    Re: Second try....still not right....

I would suggest opening up from f/5.6 to f/2.8 on your 70-200
If you're using the 75-300 that's not much help is it?

In which case up the ISO and go for good subject focus and blurred background with higher shutter speed.

I see that the larger images look soft, not sharp focus.
Do they look like that in the originals ?
Or is this just an accident of resizing ?

    Re: Second try....still not right....

I think it is resizing....but I noticed that I wasn't getting very good background blur....and I am using the center focus....yeah I am using the 70-200...

But I will try upping the ISO some more, and see what happens....
I noticed on Homer's wonderful baseball shots he used TV mode....maybe I should try that also....I will keep changing things up...should get it right eventually...I hope....LOL
Thanks for the help PAul...I really appreciate it...

If it was me Betty, I'd get the ISO up to 400. Use that beautiful lens of yours and open up your aperture to f/2.8. Now you can shoot at a faster shutter speed.

I'm curious why you are choosing such a low iso and small aperture?
    It's not blurry. It's bokeh.

    Re: Second try....still not right....

Well......I am not sure...LOL....I thought the rule of thumb was the brighter it is....lights..sun...etc....the lower the ISO....but I am learning differently....I knew that one effects the other, but with basketball, I never had to change up so much...get it set once for the game...and done....but now it seems that it all needs to be checked and rechecked as the game goes on, and depending on which side of the field I am on...and pay attention more to the sun going down......I'll get there....not another game for awhile now, with spring break coming up....but I will be back out trying again soon....

    Thanks...
