Cool Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona

Well that was a fun and exhausting weekend. I would have posted larger images but I don't know how in PhotoShelter. You can view these and a lot more here

For this set I really tried to stay away from the normal race car shots and tried a few different things. Let me know if you have a favorite from this set or the main gallery!

Sorry for the watermark. Dozens and dozens of my photos get taken and used without my permission every year and I'm tired of it.

Well done, Kurt. I am with Bert on #3 as my favorite, it is a wild and unique capture! I like #6 also, because it is a right-place at the right-time shot.

Awesomely different. My favorite is the #4 pit shot with the ‘ghosts’ giving the feeling of the pit action. - Terry

Re: Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona

How many discards are there of #5 where the car isn't right in the diamond of the mesh fence?
Looks like a sensor as dirty as mine

I agree #4 is cool, I would have been tempted to use my 580EXII in strobe mode at about 3fps on very low power to get an effect similar to this.

Great panning, I like the use of colour in the backgrounds, well chosen.

#2 & 6 I like the wide angle effect of Victory lane and the building behind. The smile of the crew guy under the driver and the bored stance of the official. Are you heading back for Speed weeks?

    Thanks everybody!

It was a fun event. So far I don't think I'm doing speedweeks because no clients have contacted me yet. I am available!

#5 was pure luck! I didn't know what kind of shots to get because I have never shot this race before so I was just wondering around looking.

I've been to the 24 several times, but not since the DP cars came along. I just can't get excited about those .... things.

I don't shoot for anyone but myself, not being pro, but I do know what it takes in panning to impart a sense of motion into a racing car picture, and my hat's off to ya, sir!!

Sebring, on the other hand! I'd been saying for most of my adult life that I was going to Sebring, and last year I finally made it! Made it a motorcycle camp trip, and planning on doing it again this year.

Gorgeous collection of shots. You displayed a wide variety of methods and techniques, truly nice work.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??
