    Ride 'Em Cowboy!

Here are a few of the photos I took this weekend at a rodeo. I had never photographed a rodeo before but I've wanted to for some time. I actually took these photos from the uppermost row in the stands. The stands were pretty full of spectators and the top row was the only place I could stand up without blocking anybody's view.

The lighting wasn't all that great because it was a night time rodeo. I had to set my ISO to 3,200 and set the aperture on my Nikkor 70 - 200mm f/2.8 VR lens to 2.8. That's why there is some blurring and why the photos are a bit grainy.

Nice action under some pretty difficult conditions. Just think what would they would have looked like without the D300 to be able to shot at 3200. I can guarantee that my D200 would not have done as good a job.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

That and the fact that the D300 gives you more frames per second are the two main reasons I decided to move up from the D200. I still have my D200, which I use as a back-up and which I let my 16 year old daughter use when we're photographing together, but the D300 is my main camera. Especially for sports photography under the lights.

Thanks for the kind words btw.
