Remote Camera Skating

I had an idea for setting up a remote camera on the race track for the motorcycle series in my previous post. I was quickly disabused of the notion that I'd have any access to the "hot" portion of the track.

I put the idea into play shortly thereafter.

Wednesday night means one thing: Richmond Vert.  Greg and the fellas get together to get weightless on the eleven foot ramp.  The shots below need some explanation.  The photos were made possible with a remote camera.  While taking one photo, two cameras simultaneously got the shot from two angles.

Alleyoop Switch Nosegrind to Fakie

Camera 1 is the D7000 with Nikon 70-200 VRII. I mounted the Yongnuo RF-602 Transmitter on its hot shoe.

Camera 2 is the D90 with Nikon 10.5 Fisheye on a tripod. I wired in a Yongnuo RF-602 receiver and remote shutter release to the GPS/Shutter port.

The mechanics are wonderful but the artificial setting really makes the picture look ordinary.

hmm with a circular rig above, and a set of simultaneous stills, you could pan round in "bullet time" like the matrix. That in video would be an awesome result.
