    Powerlifting

Our high school held the regional power lifting competiton, and they ask for volunteers to take pictures. Being a novice photographer and not knowing anything about the sport, it sounded like fun and challenging. It was well worth the time.

    Re: Powerlifting

Nice shots! I've done the local and state powerlifting meets here and they're amazing. I have to say this is only the second girl I've seen compete. We had one here a couple of years ago and she did pretty well in her weight class. The only comment I'd make is that the focus is a little soft in these. They all appear back-focused. If you look closely, someone or something in the background is in sharp focus. My guess is that you were using multiple focus points. If that's the case, try using a single point focus when you have busy backgrounds or other players nearby.

    Thanks!

Thanks for sharing these photos! It's always nice to see something different here. I don't think I've seen anyone post powerlifting photos on this forum before. I think you did a pretty good job, too. Lighting is obviously the most difficult thing to deal with here. Your photos are sharp without motion blur, so I think you handled it well. To do better I think you'd have to set up a couple of off-camera flashes to you could really control the light. Maybe you can work on that for next time
