Part of the job I hate

I know most of the field, BBQ @ the motor home with some, followed their careers, the paddock is a family where the kids, husbands, fathers, sons and daughters put their lives on the line every race.
Pray for Dan Wheldon and his family.

Was really relieved when my brother called me back and said he was shooting the front stretch at that point of the race.

It´s been a bad day, knowing our man Plowey looked up to him, raced with him, and lived and laughed with him. If we´d known Dan more, been closer to him, Angie would be totally distraught. I know a little more why Martin´s parents find it so hard to watch him race.

It´s strange comparing our feelings over the years:
Roland Ratzenberger, Monza, same weekend as Arton Senna - who else remembers his debut?
Ayrton Senna, we watched his crash live on TV, before we ever went to a race.
Henry Surtees, an up and coming young talent we knew and had met, with his Father, several times.
Dan Wheldon, successful, wonderful young man, looking forward to a season with him and Plowey next year.

The closer we get to the drivers, the more it hurts, even though we´re barely in the outermost circle of the Indy paddock family.
