One of my Favorite shots from the Weekend

I took this Monday really, my days are mixed up and considering he was doing about 170 mph I love that I got the power wheelie!

what did you use for this shot? Camera, Lens, F/stop, Shutter speed?

I personally would like to see more of an angle of him coming on, rather than the side. Great capture of the power wheelie, please post some more.

Re: One of my Favorite shots from the Weekend

Is that section of the track downhill?
I can see the bolts in the armco look nearly vertical, it could perhaps take a little clockwise rotation to put them vertical.

It doesn't look so impressive until you know his speed !
While I can see the rear tyre squatting, the rear suspension appears quite high, not compressed at all. Makes me think this might be just coming off the brow of a hill and the load's not on the rear end yet.

Nice space, more in front of the bike, good panning.
Sharp, at 1/2000 but with a little wheel blur for speed.

I would have shot at 1/800 or 1/1000 with less chance of panning correctly at that speed I admit, but more background and wheel blur for speed effect. If I got it in the frame that is
I find I have to get my body/eyes readjusted when shooting bikes, for the first few minutes I'm not panning right because I shoot cars more often and expect car-like acceleration.

At 155mm I think you did well to get it in the frame at that speed !
Particularly when accelerating and you have to pan faster as they pass you, that's hard.

on a different note, I love your quote in your signature. But probably not for the same reason you do. I like bikes without motors.

As an avid biker and race fan, I love the picture. The fact that the rear suspension is not collapsed is awesome. Just on the acceleration. I love these bikes as they are pure speed....

    Nice job...

And two wheels does move the soul....

That wheelie is better, the front wheel clears the shadow.
I love the moment you got in the last shot.
