    New Member Any Opinions??

    Hello,

I am new here, I found this site using google. I have been doing high school sports photography for the local paper for 5 years, I attached a couple examples, let me know what you think.

I started out using a Nikon D100 with a Nikon 80-200 2.8, but it was too slow, so I moved to a Nikon D1 and it is much bettter, I have thought about going to a D2H, only at the right price, I am in no hurry, I will wait for prices to come down some, if they do.

The lax photo was taken with my Nikon D1 with a Nikon 70-200 2.8 VR lens.

The Football photos was taken with the D100 and 80-200 2.8 lens.

    Welcome NikonRob,

I like the football shot, wish we had day games here but they are ALL night games and you need flash or you get nothing at most fields. Oddly the smallest school in our county has the best lighting and I can shoot between the 20's without flash.

As for camera, I have known many a Nikon user in my area and slowly they are bailing for Canons. The main problem is the noise issue, the next is service. Both are major issues with the Nikon cameras, even the D2H. One shooter I know has owned his since they first came out and he has had it repaired 4 times, and without it for 6 months during that time! He's had all kinds of issues including auto focus failure x2, metering failure and complete failure to turn on. The meter failure occured the week he bought it.

Really like the Lacrosse photo. It shows great action. The football photo is good, but I just wish I could see more of the ball carrier's face. Good first posts. Thank you for sharing.

    Hey Rob,

Welcome to the forums! I'm not a sports shooter myself, but it's great to see new members posting in the sports forum! A couple of very nice action shots you have here, I prefer the football image of the two myself. We look forward to seeing more of your work.
