    Re: New Flash

Desmo....? First congrats on the flash. I know you've been waiting for one for quite sometime. And, might I ad, nice choice! I loved my 430EX...so many capabilities in such a small unit. Packed full of power and less than 50% cost of the bigger brother 580EX/580EXII.

N* has a race going on Sunday. It's a drive, but that was so much fun to shoot. Maybe get out to the local skateparks and try shooting some of that too. Sunnyvale, Pacifica, Redwood City, and San Mateo all have good parks.

    Re: New Flash

Thnx Dave! Can't make N* this weekend, but I am going up during the week (to ride!)

Skateparks, cool, didnt think of that.

Been rtfm (reading the f__ manual) and I cant figure out how to meter. if I depress the shutter halfway, it doesnt take into account I have a big honking flash on top does it? And wow is that thing powerful. outside today, I had to back it down to 1/4 even though it was full sun.

If you're using the flash in "M" mode, then you'll have to figure your flash settings on your own. However, with ETTL/ETTL II the camera body should recognize the flash. You may have to dial in flash compensation though for certain scenes/subjects,

For most of those CHDH/N* photos I did, the flash was set between 1/8 and 1/2 power. Most of Halfro's stuff is around 1/8-1/4 power up on the CHDH course.
