Question Need Help w/tomorrows Football Game---please

I am in dire need of help.....I have a Canon EOS 350D Rebel XT. I am having problems taking pics of the football game. They are coming out a little too dark and are very grainy looking. I am fairly new to taking night time pics. I have some how gotton really confused on what settings I need to be using for night time high school football. Game time is 7 PM tomorrow evening. Will definately be dark (with the time change this past week-end) The stadium is only 4 yrs old, so the lighting is pretty good.

Can someone please tell me what settings I should use? Thanks Sassy

I might also add, that I have tried reading the manuals-and they are so confusing.....

At minimum you will need atleast a lens that will reach 200mm at f2.8. Then do a meter reading of the grass and plug those settings in on manual mode. (ex: 1/500 f2.8) Try to obtain a 1/350 or 1/500 shutter speed to stop the action. You can always rent lenses if you dont have one because they are very pricy.
