Exclamation NBA - 12.31.11 - Rockets vs Hawks

Being on assignment for the Houston Press was a fantastic way for me to close out 2011! I shot the Rockets vs the Hawks on Saturday night.

Great pics! I especially like the second to last one. Framed so nicely, sharp, dynamic, and the background isn't too distracting.

    my pick would be #7
in #6 what looks like the head of someone behind is a little distracting.

Oh man - I agree on the second to last photo. That one is sooo sweet! I don't even care about basketball and that one makes me excited. Great face and great dynamic tension in the subject. So good!

The cheerleaders are alright, too. I mean, if you like that kind of thing ;-)

Another very nice set of pics! I'm going with number 6, it's a super action phto and his brother play for my KY Wildcats.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

Thanks for the comments guys. Sometimes it's so hard to get a clean shot. Refs, players, coaches and ball boys are almost always on the court, messing up your shots! LOL!

There's also always some kind of action going on but I'll try to be more aware of my backgrounds.

    Wardrobe change!

    Nice shots groove.

I've never shot basketball, so I don't know, but would a really shallow depth of field, say f/1.4 or f/1.8 help throw the background enough out of focus to make the subject pop a bit more?

I'm sure... but all of my lenses are f/2.8 except for my 50mm f/1.8.
