My friday night football (double overtime)

Not only did we win in double overtime, this game had the most amazing passes and catches. Second half our QB suffered a devastating injury. Our 4th string QB was all we had left and he lead our team to victory with the most amazing passes I've seen all season.

The winning TD was run up behind my son too. Dang, I just about had a heart attack.

My pics will be in my local paper too! I'm curious to see how many pics, if they are in color and if they get on the front page of the sports section.

If anyone would like to see a write up in another paper, PM me and I'll send you the link to read about the game for yourself. It was somthing else!

I took over 700 pics. Here are just a few.

This boy is my buddy. I adore him because he's a survivor of much and very inspiring to me. He scored 3 touch downs in the second half. I've never in my life every seen a human jump as high as he does. Toney had 3 flying catches right in front of me. He's a pretty darn amazing athlete and person. He joined track for the first time in his life last year. Went to state for long jump and broke the state record.

This was a very argued call. This boy is one of the highest recruited kids for football in our state. I think he is going to land at the U of W, but it isn't set in stone yet.

How I wish the ball was in this pic and I had better focus

Re: My friday night football (double overtime)

no heartattacks on the sidelines there JETA!

Looks like a fun game to shoot there. I have had one ot game to shoot in the last 5 years and the team that won it has not won a game since! 2 year losing streak..lol

I bet when you saw you missed the ball you were cussing me... and saying I want his 1D! Don't blame you, I used to do the same thing Anyone I knew with a 1D got cussed up one side and down the other I can't do that now though, most of the people I know haven't even switched to MKII's, let alone MKII N's.

I find it very hard to be a spectator, even while shooting a game, but being neutral is even harder, and worse when it is two county schools and I have to shoot both of them. Normally I start on one sideline and at half switch.... you get to hear the funniest things from players and coaches...and some of the worst

JS .... hey the microwave finally finished dinner!!! sheeesh, I'm lazy!

Hey JETA some very nice images here. Sounds like it was a great game to cover. don't worry about the number of images you post, the more the better. I think most of us here love to see sports pictures and it is great that this forum is getting some regular posters.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

Great job, JETA. It looks like you have your timing and anticipation down when it comes to shooting football. They're all good shots, but I think the fourth one tells the a great story. If I was a photo editor, I would run that on that shot.

I can't help it! Oy, what a game!

Well JS, I wouldn't say I was cussing YOU exactly. ;) My camera.... Ya, that's it. I was cussing at my camera.

That play happened so darn fast. It was way down field from me and in my face in a seconds time.

Thanks Masdog. It is getting better. Each game I get more and more keepers. I think panning and when I press the shutter button is what gets me most messed up. Also the shots that running to me and not in front of me.

I'm so curious to see which pictures the editor puts in the paper. It will be out tomorrow AM!

JT! Did you know I was a girl all along? It took me weeks to figure out most of you thought I was a guy.

The rain got so bad at the game my husband came to the sidelines to hold a umbrella over me. He was thrilled because there is nothing like being on the sidelines. Do you know he pulled me back from an amazing play? I got two great shots of it and two more ready to fire that I missed. I so could have camera whipped..... Needless to say he didn't do that again. I haven't needed protection all season from plays running at me, so why do I need it now? Grrrrrrrrrr.........

Re: My friday night football (double overtime)

Some guys have incredible appetites. When I lived in my Fraternity house, I used to cook on some nights. If certain brothers were there (and if I was making Mosticcolli, they would make it a point to be there), I would have to make 2-3 times as much as I normally would because they would eat half of whatever I cooked in one sitting.

One kid took half of a 9x13 pan of mosticcolli and heaped it onto his plate!!! I had to stop cooking because I almost went broke because of them.

I can't imagine that gender matters at all to anyone on this forum. What we are looking for are good images and improvement. You have in a very short time have given us both. I shoot every week with a female photographer who is a teacher at the local HS and has sons that are currently playing at lower levels. She gets great pictures and gets the same treatment and respect that all the other photogs get on the side lines. One of the best photogs for the nearest big daily to me in Lexington is a woman and she gets some amazing shots. Her soccer is the best around. So there is no reason to try and pass on this forum or to my knowledge no other it's the images that you present that get you the respect. Just keep posting and improving.

Oh I didn't mean to make it sound like I thought gender mattered to you all. It just took me a few weeks to figure out that some of you thought I was a guy. It was funny to me cuz I'm such a girly girl. That's all. It cracked me up.

I will keep posting and I sure hope improving. I've learned more here in the month or two I've been posting then I have in the 5 years I've been dabbling in sports photography.

I used to eat nothing but those big ole dinners every night...I'm a whole 150lbs and 5'6" skinny as a rail...only gained 20 lbs since graduating high school, still fit the same jean size I did then!

Only half of it... heck I'd have eaten the whole thing! I have a bad habbit of emptying buffetts... one in Indy barred me from the place
At 9 I once ate 24 pancakes at breakfast... when I went back home after a month at my Uncles my mom was furious... she had to buy me all new clothes She just bought clothes before I went to my Uncles
