    My first sport shot

I'm still trying to get used to using the camera for sports. This is my first submission in this category. The gym was really poorly lit. I used my FL-36 flash with an E-500 and set at 96mm 1/160, 4.1

nice color reproduction, and good use of flash, there really arent any lines on the body which help. Unfortunately, the moment is not very "decisive" and the cropping is a bit awkward, with chopping off the legs. your background with the chopped off kid's head is a problem, are you shooting as open as you can? I know backgrounds are tough to deal with, you just have to position yourself in a way they will be the least distracting. it's a good start, but the framing, bg, and timing are something you could work on.

I think Brent pretty well nail the problem with this photo. But it also has some positives that you can build on. Keep shooting and keep posting.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

Good and constructive. Thanks. I appreciate it. it was tough because I had to be so far off the mat, so I laid down on the floor next to it. Unfortunately wrestling is over. Now it's on to track season. I'll keep posting.

I think track is a very good sport to start developing your sports photos. It's easier to shoot because you know where everyone's going to be, but it will help you learn how to track subjects, learn where to place yourself for the best expressions and background, and it also allows you to get a little creative with your shooting. best of luck with everything!
