    my first attempt at basketball

my first attempt at shooting basketball

    Bendigo Braves v Dandenong Rangers

Shot with Canon 1000D and Kit 70-300mm lens which made it quite hard as its quite slow (f4-5.6) so had to have the ISO turned right up to 1600 and slow the shutter speed to around 1/250...I need to convince my wife to let me buy a new faster lens

    Gallery is HERE

    Thanks for looking

Re: my first attempt at basketball

They look to be a bit under exposed but great action and colors are great. I shoot indoor volleyball and haver found using a fixed focal 50 mm 1.4 works great if you have decent seats are at courtside. You can pick one up for under $500. I am able to stop the action at 1/400 and get enough light in to properly expose. Also if I need a closer look I crop the shots since I do not have to use a real high ISO which creates less noise.

    Keep shooting!!! Grat job!
