Mountain Mist 50K

Today was the Mountain Mist 50K trail run and the weather held true to the name. At the 8am start the temps were ~30 degrees with a mist in the air and fog. Visibility was about 100 feet but seemed like 10, which made for a perfect :mad2: photo day. Here's a couple of shots.

All these shots are straight from the camera, I might can clean them up a bit but they show the true feeling of the day. After a couple of hour the fog lifted a bit but it was still cold and the trails were slick.

50K.... Wow, these are some tough athletes...I don't know if I even drive 50K...

I think you've captured the feel of the event well.
I guess you were using the centre AF point, which tends to put your subjects in the centre.
Some cropping from the side and top on the 3rd and 5th would improve the sense of action, I think.
The last one, with the runner's movement now vertical, might be better suited with a portrait format. Either by cropping or just turning the camera next time you're faced with a steep climb.

Thanks, I may go back a pick out a few of the best ones to do some cropping, but with around 500 photos from the race I just wanted to get them uploaded so the participants can view them. They are all posted here: Mountain Mist 50K Gallery
