    Motorsports action

Some shots from the second round of the Finnish touring car tour.. Mika Häkkinen appeared as a special guest in the Scandinavian Porsche cup, winning saturday's race dominantly and losing out to Markus Palttala on sunday's wet conditions that resulted in all Finnish guest drivers finishing in the top three... I guess the old Ahvenisto circuit took its toll on the swedes.. At least I wouldn't be comfortable there in rain in a Porsche.. ;)

    Sweeeeeeeet!!!!!!

These are awesome! I like the cockpit photo with the mirror. That one is soooo cool. The car all by itself with the wall and spectators in the background has a nice feel, too. And you can't beat a big line of Porsches all battling for position.

Thanks for posting these. I meant to reply to your last track photos but never did. By the way, these are way better. So maybe it's ok that I waited.

Actually the second Porsche is touching the 'lead car'... (That's actually the third place car, Hakkinen and Palttala having already built up a nice lead..) I do think digital has helped in getting better shots, for the mirror shot I shot like a dozen frames before I got his eyes nicely in the frame. With film I would have maybe settled for a shot without his eyes, as there was a bit of a rush in the pitlane before they headed out to track...

    Yes!

I really believe that digital has the potential to make us better photographers. That is, if we're willing to review as we shoot and make adjustments immediately. I know it's made me a better photographer.

Please start a new discussion and post some samples along with your camera settings. Your post is a good one and it deserves to have its own thread. This is exactly the kind of question I started the Sports Photography Forum for.
