Motorcycle Track Day: Laguna Seca, Part 1

    Track Day

    Laguna Seca

    Part 1

A buddy at work races motorcycles and invited me to come down to a track day.

    Oops.

    He should have stayed down.

    Part 2 to follow.

I normally look for the face of the rider, but I like what you caught there in "visor".
I think you could crop it more from the buttom, almost up to the far side of the track.

I'm coming to the conclusion I want to shoot 16:9 stills for motorsport, or even wider, rather than cropping.

Your first set though, all look to have a high shutter speed, you can even see the tyre tread, mabe too fast to give the sense of motion until they tip into the corner.

The "pan" is good, you've done the opposite of the usual motion shot and shown what's behind rather than leaving room to move into in front, seeing the unusual is good when it works!

That shot of the field is nice, look for a nose to tail train on the racing line weaving through corners like a snake. When they're close to each other and it's a tight set of corners it makes a gorgeous image.
