More Middle School BB with D700

Here are a few I shot with the D700 last week at my nephews 7th grade game. I used the AF-S 28-70mm set at f2.8 and a shutter speed of 1/400th. The ISO was set to 2500 there has been a small adjustment with Neat Image.

Now these look fabulous Larry! Neat Image gave you the last element to make that D700 shine. Nice work.

    These looks great.

ISO 2500 looks awesome. How much did you PP these? Did you use a flash or strobes?

    Nice job....

Very little PP was done on these a level adjustment to brighten the whites a bit and USM of course. The real kicker was a very slight filtering on the noise with Neat Image. No flash of strobes were used just the gym lights.

Thanks to my mother I now have Neat Image. She doesn't know it yet but that's what she got me for Christmas. I down loaded a trial and liked what I saw and ordered it on the spot. Now I have to find something for her to wrap up and give me on Christmas. She doesn't have to know that I I downloaded it and have been using it for two weeks before Christmas.

I agree Daniel that this is the final piece to the puzzle. I do need to learn to use the program better but I think it's going to give the high ISO images what they need to polish them up.

    Wow!

Those are great images and to be at that high an ISO and that little noise is great.
I am going to have to give neat image a try now. With all the low light stuff I shoot I need something. to help the noise. and since a D700 or D3 are not going to happen any time soon, I will have to give it a try.

Just give your self a blank CD with Neat Image written on it (I've done it with software I've downloaded in the past), it is awesome software, and it looks like you have an awesome camera I'm quite impressed with the D700, the color and low noise at high ISO's.

The D700 was a big investment for me but one I'm very happy with. My main sports camera has been the D2h which is a great piece of equipment but has a great deal of noise over ISO 800. I'm anxious to see how Neat Image work on some of those files as well. I might add that I bought the Home+ version which was right at $50 and allowed me to use it as a plug in with Photo shop which is very convenient and fits very nicely into the normal work flow without having to go into another program.

Thanks Chris, I'm very pleased so far. I'll see come baseball season if I can adjust to the FX format. I have gotten so use to the multiplying factor on my lenses I don't know what I'll do now. I wish I could also afford a 300 f2.8 but until I win the lottery I'll have to make do with the 300 f4.

I'm not sure if Neat Image has it, (it probably does) but Noise Ninja Pro lets me batch process and uses noise profiles that I created for each of my cameras. It automatically selects the correct profile from the EXIF data and applies it. Nice feature since it allows me to start the batch and grab a snack while I'm waiting. I also created a PS action to do my default PP. I'm just lazy like that though!

Yep it does most of that as well. I got the Home edition to save $30 and I can only do 50 files in a batch at a time, but that should be adequate for my needs.
