    Meet Jimmy B

Say hello to Jimmy B hard at work at Kentucky Speedway this weekend. Most of us know Jimmy as one of us, a fine photographer that enjoys among other things taking pictures of race cars. What you may not know is that Jimmy B is a NASCAR Craftman Truck Series official. I had an opportunity to meet Jimmy this weekend while he was working the race in Northern Kentucky. I tried to stay out of the way as he went about his job but fortunately there were lulls in his official duties that gave us plenty of time to get to know each other and to talk racing and photography. I want to thank Jimmy for giving me the heads up on things around the garage area and in the pits. It had been a number of years since I had been in the pits at a big time event and Jimmy made the transition much easier for me. I hope to post several of the pictures form the race and around the track in the coming days but wanted to start by thanking Jimmy and posting a few of him hard at work around the garage and in the pits.

PS: We even got out on Friday night after the ARCA race and shoot some fireworks and night cityscapes from a hill over looking Cincinnati OH and Great American Ball Park. Check out Jimmy's post over on Viewfinder.

Great shots OT. I am really glad you had a good time at the race. I did forget to ask how you liked having the radio to listen to? Looking forward to some of your truck shots!

    Re: Meet Jimmy B

Jimmy I have been working on about 1500 shots from Friday and Saturday. About 11:00 pm here and Joy has already gone to bed on me. Said if I was going to sit here with my back to her all night she might as well go to bed. I'm about half way though editing and checking out my race image. Hope to have a few to post tomorrow. The radio was great thanks for hooking me up with that, it made all the difference. I know most of us don't care for pic of our selves, but I hope these are not too bad of you.

#4 just gives me visions of a motorcycle cop - "Sir, do you know how fast you were goin?" Haha.

Great shots OT! Looking good there Jimmy, what a cool job. As big as I am into racing, I'm very jealous - how cool to get paid to be around race cars.

Its good to see our members through another members eyes and Jimmy looks very official even without the big logo.
Jimmy and I talk about getting together sometime as we only live an hour or two apart but it will happen when it does.

    Re: Meet Jimmy B

I feel very lucky to have had the opportunity to be up close to the action in the garage and in the pits. But more so that I had the opportunity to meet Jimmy and form what I hope will be a long friendship. Thanks for the comments and a big thanks to my model who never once complained when I stuck a camera in his face.

Great shots! I know how hot he was too  the advantage of working on the track is no firegear! Sounds like you had a very rewarding weekend! I got to meet Brad this weekend too, sounds like a meet the sports forum weekend!

    Re: Meet Jimmy B

Indeed, Lori gave my friends and I quite the treat at Barber this weekend - thanks Lori! It was a pleasure meeting her and seeing what is probably one of the best vantage points on the whole track for photos. Since she was working a big-time race we didn't get to chat too much, but I definitely plan on making it back out to a few more events this year and hopefully we can meet up again.

    Re: Meet Jimmy B

I can't emphasize enough how much I enjoyed my weekend and what Jimmy did for me. If you have an opportunity to meet another PR member do it! We have great people here and you owe it to yourself to get to know them. You and your images will benefit. Here is Jimmy just before the start of the race. My only regret of the weekend was I didn't find someone who know how to push a shutter realease and get a pic of Jimmy and I together.

Hmmm, Jimmy looks somewhat like one of the Cup officials I was talking to today..... poor guy was worried about getting out of Indy without getting beaned following the longest 400 miles at Indy due to all the "competition cautions"

Jimmy is a top flight individual. Hope you get a chance to meet him at a race someday. That race yesterday was a pain even to watch on TV. Those competition cautions were the pits.

JS, no I wasn't at Indy I got to spend the day at the local track for the Camping World Series West race. left the house at 5:00 AM Turned out my light at 2:15 AM. Nothin like a 21 hour day for a at home race.
I haven't heard how some of the guys and gals did leaving the speedway?
Racedraper I was in Kansas earlier this year! I do 7 or 8 races with the truck series and all of the west races which is 13 this year.
