    Exclamation Like watersports???

Maybe you'll enjoy some skimboarding pictures I know it looks like surfing, but I promise it's skimming. The main difference (besides the boards) is the approach. Surfers sit in the water waiting for waves to come in from behind them, while skimmers wait on the beach, run at the wave, and then ride it back to shore, performing various tricks on the way in. Skimmers can also do tricks on the way out to the wave, or off the wave (as in aerials, as shown in the last picture).

So the thing that sets skimboarding apart is how they get on the wave?
Do you have anything that shows that?
And the tricks on the way out to the wave, that's interesting.

I assume the boards don't have rear fins like the larger surf boards.
I can't see any thing in the board's wake in the first shot.

I wish I had a good picture to show what I was talking about, but basically the skimmer will run at the ocean, drop their board and get on within one or two steps, and ride out. That's the approach. Then we just ride it in. I'm gonna go look online somewhere for a picture that shows the approach.

And you are correct, there are no fins on the boards

    Re: Like watersports???

    Thanks !
The skimboarders down at Newquay while I was a teenager never managed that.
Myself I barely stayed on the board as I hit the water !
No-one was good enough to get out to the wave, let alone ride it back in.
But the boards we used were a bit wider and less agile than those on your photos.

I reckon somewhere between 4&5 would fill in the sequence nicely, bridging the ride out to the aerial. I'd like to see #5 bigger, too
