Liability insurance? Do you have it?

One of the football clubs I shoot for is now requiring I have liability insurance. Since I seem to be the one who gets hurt and is in harms way it has never crossed my mind!

Do you have it? If no I'd like to hear why. My no would be ignorance I guess.

If you do have it how much do you think you need in coverage. Right now my insurance company has a policy for me that covers up to $300,000 for anyone who is hurt by me.

Mind you this is for youth football. I simply do not see how I could hurt anyone during portraits which is what I do for them.

    Thoughts, experience and advise appreciated.

Re: Liability insurance? Do you have it?

There is no end to the many reasons that some one will sue or file a claim against you Julie. If I were doing the kind of work with kids you are I would difficulty have a General Liability policy. They usually will cover you for any type of damage to property or injury to others while you are on the job, my experience is they are price rather reasonably for the protection you get.
Don't forget about the Gallery. Are your photos there??

Thank you Larry. I have it all written up and will purchase it tomorrow. This is all I needed to hear.

Good deal. You know it can be a simple as a kid tripping over your camera bag and breaking an arm. You just never know what can happen. Why take a chance?

Not sure if you caught this on facebook, but my oldest is now my insurance agent. He's getting it done for me today.

Thank you for the push I needed!

I missed that Julie, I know that he will take good care of you. Is he with a big agency or does he have one of his own?

Re: Liability insurance? Do you have it?

He's with a small broker agency right here in the harbor. Guess who he is working for? His old high school pitching coach. It's pretty darn funny. His coach has never hired a player of even his own children. Big-A is also coaching (pitching) with his boss at the high school, head coach of a 18u team and pitching coach of a 14u team. It's pretty funny to me seeing him wear old hs and select team gear.

Sounds like he is keeping active and staying very close to the game. I'll bet you miss watching him pitch though.
