    Which Lenses?

Okay i was talked into buying a d300. going to get it today. i shoot mostly middle school basketball and baseball. so indoors and out. which 2 lenses would be best fit for me? i was think about 70-200 f2.8 and maybe 17-55 f2.8. would these be a good fit or something better?

    thanks

You can't go wrong with those lenses, they are both excellent choices. I would go for the IS version. If not, you'll look back and think that you should have. At least that was my logic.

You could also look at the Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 Di II LD Aspherical IF SP AF. I'm thinking of picking one of these up for general use. Its not an IS but should be good overall (plus its about half the cost).

i have the tamron 17-50 and it is a specticular lens .... saved a ton over the nikon ... ya it doesn't have VR but I am very happy with it and the results .... I too have the 70-200 2.8 VR and it is a great lens - unfortunately I have yet to get a chance to get into a gym and try some indoor sport shooting .....
