    The last thing I saw...

before taking a header with an overhead high wave and knocking myself upside the head with my housing. :mad2: Oh well, it came out alright.

That is an amazing shot. I feel "frenzied" or "intense" just looking at it.

So how much have you been shooting in the water so far? How's that going? I really look forward to seeing more photos. Maybe even some with some actual surfers in them :-P

I always wanted to do surf photography. But your little episode is one of the things that made me hesitant. I was ok with getting in the water. But I was never really psyched about the idea of getting smashed into the sand. And there's no way it can be avoided. You have to pay your dues.

    Is this your first outing?
Those surf photographers really work hard for good pics, so props to you.
I look forward to seeing more.
    Good Luck!

Re: The last thing I saw...

@ John - Thanks buddy. My little "episode" wasn't really all that bad though. I learned a few things from the day. Kicking out at Manresa is a pain and hand out in front with the housing is not a good idea when trying to get under a wave. I'm actually psyched to get back out there and try again.

@ Brian - It's my second time out with the housing. My first time was at an easier location with bigger waves. It was easy to kick out and get in the lineup the first time around.

Both times I went out with some surfers, but shooting from the water is much more difficult than I thought it would be. I'm excited to see how shooting in the water progresses.

    LOL. "Valleys GO HOME!"

I was watching...as it crashed right on top of me. I wasn't able to duck under it fast enough. The sets were close together.

I think half of the reason I watch surfing competitions, etc is to watch the photographers!
    Keep it up Dave!

Nice shot. Way to get out there and experience the environment.
